Wright Christian Academy More Than A School

TEACHER SPOTLIGHT

DEBBIE ANDERSON

Teaching first grade is an awesome responsibility and loving to teach first grade is a gift. When asked about their favorite teacher, many Wright Christian Academy students reflect back to their 1st grade teacher, Debbie Anderson.  She has been described as sweet, patient, compassionate, and caring. One senior graduating this year said that Mrs. Anderson is the only teacher she has ever cried over leaving her class to move on to the next grade. She is loved and adored and remember fondly by all who pass through her class.

It is for this reason that Wright Christian Academy is blessed to have Debbie Anderson teaching first grade since 1990. Mrs. Anderson plays a vital role in helping children develop in such areas as reading and writing and she teaches skills necessary to interact in a social environment. Most importantly, she fosters the spiritual growth of her students and imports to them the importance of honoring God in all areas of their lives.

After graduating from Abilene Christian University and teaching in Texas for a few years, Mrs. Anderson moved to Tulsa in 1979. She is married to Steve and has two children who are both graduates of Wright Christian Academy. Jeremy David married Emily Ingram, another WCA graduate, and lives in Oklahoma City with their son Wyatt. April and her husband Ben live in Dallas where April is a high school science teacher.

We are truly blessed to have Debbie Anderson as a part of the faculty of Wright Christian Academy and are honored to present her as our Teacher of the Year for 2011. The love she shows and the spiritual truths she shares with each child result in a legacy of academic success and spiritual strength throughout the lives of these children.
